What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Once injected, PRP acts as a growth matrix to trigger collagen production, smooth and tighten skin, and regenerate tissue. When injected into the scalp, PRP can encourage new hair growth or restore thickness to thinning hair.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) exists naturally in your body and can encourage regeneration, growth, and healing. Platelets are cells in your blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells.

During a PRP treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn and placed in a sterile tube that is spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma (the clear fluid). This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets – hence the term “Platelet Rich Plasma”. The PRP is then injected into the treatment site.
